Odisha’s Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo said in Bhubaneswar that the Odisha Hydro Power Corporation is sponsoring students through its corporate social responsibility fund for skill training at the World Skill Centre. He stated that the number of sponsored students has been raised from an initial 60 to 100 after a request for continued support, and that an assurance has been given to the centre on this matter.
Singh Deo noted that the sponsorship covers skill training provided at the World Skill Centre. He explained that the increase followed a specific request for ongoing assistance, leading to the higher figure of 100 students. The Deputy Chief Minister added that his colleague Sampat Swain has indicated World Skill Centres will open shortly in Sambalpur and Berhampur.
He further said the government will extend support to those centres once they become operational. The remarks focused on the existing arrangement with the World Skill Centre and the planned expansion to the two additional locations.
The announcement outlines continued backing for skill development through the corporation’s CSR funds and future assistance for the new centres in Sambalpur and Berhampur.
