Actor Vijay’s son Jason Sanjay made his directorial debut with the film Sigma, which released in theatres on October 2 in Tamil and Telugu languages. The movie, produced by A. Subaskaran under Lyca Productions and starring Sundeep Kishan, arrived after generating significant anticipation among audiences following a postponed schedule from an earlier planned July 31 date.
The film features key roles played by Raju Sundaram, Sampath Raj, Shiv Pandit, Sheila Rajkumar, Anbu Thasan and Yog Jabi. Music was composed by S. Thaman, with cinematography by Krishnan Vasanth and editing by K.L. Praveen. Action sequences were handled by Venkat and Silva. Censor officials who reviewed the film found no major controversial scenes and granted clearance after minor changes, while praising the debutant director for selecting an engaging storyline and presenting it in an interesting manner.
The plot centres on adventure, action, crime and comedy elements. Sundeep Kishan’s character searches for treasure in dangerous locations and pursues a treasure linked to his mother, while a major conflict arises around a high-value contract involving his role and a group led by Sampath Raj. The emotional core involves the protagonist’s efforts to fulfil his mother’s wish through this journey.
On the release day, celebrations took place at Kamala Theatre in Chennai, where Jason Sanjay cut a cake to mark the occasion. He watched the film’s first screening with fans, who cheered him and compared his appearance favourably to his father. A special edited video featuring Vijay and Jason Sanjay was also screened at the venue to enthusiastic applause from the audience. Jason’s mother Sangeetha and sister Divya Sasha attended the event in simple attire.
In an earlier interview, Jason Sanjay spoke about his father’s typically quiet nature and expressed confidence that Vijay would feel proud after watching his son’s first film. The project has drawn attention as the young director’s entry into filmmaking, building on the pre-release interest surrounding the family connection and the film’s mix of genres.
