Soft tennis player Jay Meena, who secured a bronze medal, and Asian Games gold medallist Vivek Sagar met Madhya Pradesh Sports Minister Vishwas Sarang in Bhopal. The meeting took place as the athletes returned with their achievements from the Asian Games. Meena credited the backing from governments and mentors for enabling India’s historic soft tennis medal.

During the interaction, Sarang welcomed both athletes. The minister met the medal winners to recognise their performances. Meena appeared with his bronze medal while Sagar displayed his gold.

Jay Meena spoke about the factors behind the success. He said he considers himself truly fortunate that God gave him this opportunity. He added that he has had such wonderful parents and mentors, and most importantly received immense support from both the state and central governments. Meena stated it is thanks to this that they have won this historic medal for India today.

Looking ahead, Meena referred to the Commonwealth Games set to be hosted in India in 2030. He said if soft tennis is included in the program, he promises the Prime Minister and the people of India that they will sweep all five gold medals.

The event highlighted the athletes’ recent results and the official recognition in the state capital. Meena’s comments underscored the role of institutional support in the achievement while outlining ambitions for future multi-sport events on home soil.
