India defeated Pakistan by 19 runs in the gold medal match of the Asian Games 2026 men’s cricket competition on October 3 at Korogi Sports Park in Nisshin. India posted 211 for six in 20 overs and restricted Pakistan to 192 for six, securing the gold medal while Pakistan took silver.

India made a strong start in their innings, reaching 81 for two in the powerplay. Abhishek Sharma scored 61 off 28 balls with three fours and seven sixes. Tilak Varma remained unbeaten on 51 from 22 deliveries, hitting three fours and four sixes. Shivam Dube contributed 27, and a 62-run partnership for the sixth wicket between Tilak Varma and Dube helped India cross 200. Pakistan’s bowlers, including Arafat Minhas and Ahmed Daniyal who took two wickets each, kept the middle overs in check but could not prevent a competitive total.

In reply, Pakistan struggled early and managed only 39 for two in the first six overs. Hasan Nawaz led the chase with a powerful 96 off 51 balls, including five fours and seven sixes. He shared an 87-run stand with Saim Ayub, who scored 29. Nawaz kept Pakistan in the contest until the final overs, but India held firm. Washington Sundar and Axar Patel claimed two wickets each, while Shivam Dube took the final wicket of Nawaz off the last ball, caught by Sanju Samson.

The result marked India’s seventh consecutive victory over Pakistan in T20 internationals. After the match, Indian players celebrated with the national flag and took a lap of the ground as the medal ceremony began, with Sri Lanka receiving the bronze.

India’s controlled batting effort in the later overs and disciplined bowling under pressure proved decisive in claiming the Asian Games gold.
